Transitioning to daycare in Columbia can be a challenge.

All parents would love to be able to care for their child all day every day, but for most of us, that’s just not realistic. Luckily, you have A World of Discoveries on your side, and we provide a safe, supervised environment where you child can learn and grow with their peers. Although there are many benefits to enrolling your child in daycare, the transition can be a challenge for all parties involved. That’s why we’ve come up with this list of tips to help make the transition to daycare a bit easier:

#1. Let your child spend time with other caregivers.

Before you even think about starting child care, it’s important for your child to get used to spending time away from you and away from your home. A new environment will often be overwhelming for young kids, but if they have practice in new places and with new people, it’ll make it easier for them to adjust.

#2. Take your child to visit the facility.

Before your child starts going to daycare on a regular basis, tour the facility with them! Get them excited to start daycare by showing them the toys, crafts and playground. This is also a good time to introduce them to their teacher.

#3. Talk to the teacher about your concerns.

The more information your child’s teachers have about your concerns, the better. Your child’s teachers will not only be able to help calm some of your fears and anxieties, they may also have some ideas for you on how to deal with your child’s specific behaviors and concerns.
