What to Leave and What to Have Them Take To Daycare

Don’t pack too much, but don’t forget to pack the essentials, too! When it comes down to it, what do you need to pack your child for daycare? Read today’s blog from A World of Discoveries to learn more, and enroll your child in our premium daycare services in Columbia, Missouri online today.

Leave the Electronics At Home

Sending your child to daycare with their favorite tablet or electronic game will not be in anyone’s best interest. Daycares will have plenty planned for your child to do, including early childhood learning activities, no matter their age. Have your kiddo leave all electronics at home and let them enjoy making friends, playing outside, and doing activities with the rest of the daycare group.

Have Them Take A Toy or Stuffed Animal

Holding onto, cuddling, and looking at a stuffed animal will help them get through the day. If you’re going the toy route instead of a stuffed animal, just be sure that the toy won’t be too distracting to the other children at daycare, meaning it won’t light-up or make noises. Ask your child which toy or stuffed animal they’d like to take with them to daycare each day, or if they are an infant, provide them with a few soft toys to play with.

Leave Packed Full Bags At Home

While you may be able to drop some bags and items off directly to your daycare provider, especially if you have an infant, sending your toddler or older child with multiple bags or backpacks that are packed full is a no-go. Your child’s daycare provider may not be able to house and keep track of more than one large diaper bag per parent. Instead, give your child just the essentials that can fit into one backpack, along with the other items they need, such as a lunch box, depending on their age.

Pack Them A Mini Diaper Bag

Assume that everyday your child goes to daycare they could have an accident. Pack a mini diaper bag to only include what they could need in one day — 1 extra diaper/pull-up/underwear; an extra outfit, if there’s room; wet wipes/creams/ointments/medicine; and anything else that your child couldn’t go without during daycare hours. When your child comes home from daycare, check and replenish the contents of the mini diaper bag for the next day.
