Traveling with small children can be incredibly frustrating.
Spring Break is almost here, and nothing will bring your family together like a family vacation will! Although family vacations are wonderful, traveling with small children isn’t always so wonderful. Expecting a young child to be calm and quiet for the duration of a flight is simply unrealistic, but you’ll be glad to know that there are certain things you can do to make traveling with your child a bit easier. The following is a list from our daycare in Columbia of a few tips for traveling with young children:
#1. Plan your trip in advance.
While it is certainly exciting to be spontaneous and fly by the seat of your pants, this will only make things more difficult when you have small children in tow. Make things easier on yourself by planning things in advance. In addition to booking your flight and your hotel, you should also plan out where you will eat and the activities you will do.
#2. Don’t wait until the last minute.
Young kids simply do not feel the sense of urgency that parents feel, and they aren’t going to be happy about having to rush around the airport. When you have kids with you, things take longer, so you need to give yourself more time than you normally would.
#3. Keep tabs on your child with a child locator.
The last thing that you want is to have to search for your child when the flight starts boarding. One option is to give your child a backpack with a leash, but child locators are also a great choice.
