Water safety is of the utmost importance for your children this summer.

According to the CDC, 10 people in the United States drown every single day, and of those 10, two are children under the age of 14. As you can see, drowning is a very real threat, and as a parent, it is your responsibility to keep your kids safe while out in the water this summer. Luckily, our daycare in Columbia, A World of Discoveries, is here to help. We’ve come up with these water safety tips for your kids this summer:

#1. Enroll your child in swimming lessons.

Teaching your child how to swim is one of the most important things you can do. This will help your child to feel more confident in the water, and it will give you more peace of mind when you are at the pool or the lake this summer. However, it is important to note that even kids who know how to swim are at risk for drowning, so you still need to be vigilant when your child is in the water.

#2. Learn CPR.

You never know what could happen, and even if you do all of the right things, you could still find yourself in an emergency situation. Every parent should learn CPR, but it is especially important if you take your child swimming on a regular basis.

These are just a couple of the many water safety tips that could help to save your child’s life. Would you like to learn more? If so, please stay tuned for our next blog.
